So what’s my fuss about WLW?

One of the projects I am working on is getting blogs running under Microsoft SharePoint 2007. A pretty easy task, as it turns out, but the web UI for editing SharePoint blog posts is abysmal.

However, Microsoft does make a fantastic “offline” blogging tool that is completely free – Windows Live Writer (WLW) and it can talk to SharePoint blogs just fine.

Amazingly, WLW can edit about 20 other different blogs, including WordPress, but all the processing is done locally until you publish, so a dead internet connection doesn’t mean a lost post!

Initially to get WLW running it must connect to a live blog once (it downloads style info). After that, you can use it offline anywhere, and upload (or publish) your posts when you want.
